Precipitates question?

You can find the colors of compounds in a good Chemistry handbook. The addition of ammonia to water will not cause a precipitate unless there are contaminants in the water. If there is some calcium in the water it would probably precipitate as Calcium Carbonate. This is also true of Barium Chloride in water. Any Sulfate contamination would come out as Barium Sulfate. Both of these percipitates would be white.
